Block Paved Driveway & Path | Dartford
Project Details
1. Complete Excavation
The first step was to break up and remove the old concrete driveway and path. The entire area was then excavated to the correct depth to create a solid foundation for the new driveway.
2. Sub-Base Installation & Compaction
A new MOT Type 1 hardcore sub-base was laid across the entire area. This was then thoroughly compacted using a heavy-duty roller to ensure a stable and even base, which is essential for preventing any future sinking or movement.
3. Laying the Block Paving
With the foundations in place, a layer of sand was screened over the sub-base to create a level bed for the pavers. The main driveway was then laid in a classic herringbone pattern using red block pavers, with a contrasting charcoal block border to define the edges.
4. Finishing Touches
A new ACO drainage channel was installed at the end of the driveway to manage surface water runoff effectively. Finally, kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints of the block paving to lock them securely in place and complete the professional finish.
Final Outcome
This project in Dartford is a perfect example of how a new driveway can completely transform the look and feel of a property. The new block paving is not only visually stunning but also provides a durable, low maintenance, and practical solution that has significantly enhanced the home’s kerb appeal.
