Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone Patio in Darenth
- Location: Darenth, Kent
- Project: Indian Sandstone Patio
- Duration: 3 Days
We have recently finished this Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone Patio installation for a customer in Darenth, and we have given this garden a modern look while still managing to retain a natural look which blends in perfectly with the surroundings.
The old patio was looking a bit worn out and had seen better days. The slabs were worn out and had become uneven.
Although the patio was not too bad in terms of the overall layout, it was in desperate need of a complete overhaul to bring it back to life.
Project Details
1. Preparing the Area Properly
Firstly, we removed the old slabs and started from scratch.
A new sub-base was installed and then compacted to provide a durable finish. Levels were set to provide good drainage and a smooth finish.
At the same time, we constructed new brick retaining edges and planters, which look good and finish off the patio nicely.
2. Laying the Kandla Grey Sandstone
The new Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone has been set in a mixed size pattern, which gives it that natural look but still keeps it clean and modern.
Each slab has been set on a full bed of mortar, which keeps everything nice and neat with consistent jointing.
We have also created new steps and transitions between levels, which improves the flow of the space greatly.
4. The Finished Result
The end result is a huge improvement. The patio looks much brighter, more open, and much more inviting.
The combination of the soft grey tones and the brick edging is really nice. The space looks well-balanced, modern, and natural.
It’s now a perfect space for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the garden.
Before & After!
Final Outcome
This Bexley driveway project is a great example of how combining block paving with gravel can give you the best of both worlds – structure, style, and practicality without going over the top.
