Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone Patio in Bexleyheath
Project Details
1. Before – Basic Lawn & Limited Use
Before we got started, the garden was mainly lawn with no real usable patio space. While it was tidy enough, it didn’t offer much in terms of seating or entertaining.
The aim here was to create a large, practical patio area with a clean pathway running alongside the house.
2. Groundworks & Base Preparation
We started by digging out the required areas and installing a solid MOT Type 1 sub-base, making sure everything was properly compacted.
Edging was set in to define the shape of the patio and pathway, and levels were carefully worked out to ensure good drainage away from the property.
As always, getting this stage right is key to making sure the patio stands the test of time.
3. Laying the Autumn Brown Sandstone
We then laid the Autumn Brown Indian sandstone in a mixed-size pattern, which gives it that natural, slightly random look that works so well in garden spaces.
Each slab was laid on a full mortar bed, with consistent jointing throughout to keep everything looking neat and uniform.
The warm tones in the stone really help soften the overall look and tie everything in nicely with the brickwork of the house.
Before & After!
Final Outcome
The finished result is a clean, spacious patio that completely changes how the garden can be used.
There’s now plenty of room for outdoor furniture, with a neat pathway running alongside the house for easy access. The whole space feels more open, more practical, and far more inviting.
