Block Paved Driveway & New Brick Wall in Bexley
- Location: Bexley, Kent
- Project: Block Paved Driveway & Brick Wall
- Duration: 5 Days
We completed this impressive autumn block paved driveway and new brick boundary wall in Bexley, completely transforming the front of the property and creating a much larger, smarter and more practical parking area.
The original front garden consisted mainly of lawn with an existing pathway and ageing boundary walls. The customer wanted to make much better use of the available space, replacing the garden with a substantial paved driveway while retaining a design that complemented the traditional character and brickwork of the property.
Project Details
Removing the Existing Front Garden
The transformation began by excavating the existing front garden, including the lawn, pathways and old surfaces. The photographs show the scale of the excavation, with the area stripped back ready for the construction of the new driveway.
The existing front boundary was also removed to allow the entrance and overall layout to be redesigned.
Once cleared, the driveway area was prepared with the necessary groundwork and sub-base before the paving installation began.
New Brick Boundary Walls
A particularly important feature of this project was the construction of the new brick boundary walls.
Rather than simply paving the entire frontage, new walls and pillars were built to define the property and create an attractive entrance from the pavement. The mixture of red, buff and reclaimed-style brick tones works particularly well with the existing property, helping the new landscaping feel in keeping with the character of the house.
The curved section of wall beside the entrance adds an attractive detail to the finished design, while the pillars give the frontage a substantial, traditional appearance.
Autumn-Coloured Block Paving
For the main driveway, the customer selected an attractive autumn blend block paving with a mixture of warm red, golden, brown and buff tones.
The blocks were laid across the large frontage to create plenty of usable off-road parking. Contrasting dark blocks were incorporated into the design as decorative lines and borders, breaking up the larger paved area and adding definition.
Curved detailing was also introduced towards one side of the driveway, giving the installation a more bespoke appearance rather than simply using a standard rectangular paving pattern.
Attention to the Finishing Details
The new driveway was carefully finished around the property, garage entrance, new boundary walls and pedestrian access.
The combination of the autumn paving, dark contrasting details and traditional brick walls is particularly effective against the property’s red brick, stone and black-and-white Tudor-style frontage.
The Finished Transformation
The difference between the before and after photographs is substantial. What was previously a large front lawn with limited hardstanding has been converted into an attractive and spacious block paved driveway.
The finished project provides significantly more practical parking while also giving the front of the home a smart, established appearance.
This Bexley project is a great example of how block paving and professionally built boundary walls can completely transform a property’s frontage, combining additional parking with improved kerb appeal.
