Block Paved Driveway & Drainage | Bexleyheath
Project Details
1. Groundwork & Foundations
The project began with a full excavation of the area. The old surface was removed, and the ground was dug out to the required depth to create a solid foundation for both the new driveway and the brick wall.
2. Brickwork & Drainage
A new brick wall was expertly built to create a stylish and durable boundary for the property. At the same time, an ACO drainage channel was installed across the front of the driveway. This is a crucial feature that ensures all surface water is efficiently collected and drained away, preventing any puddles or water damage.
3. Sub-Base & Laying Course
A substantial sub-base of MOT Type 1 hardcore was laid and then heavily compacted with a roller. This creates a robust and stable base that will not sink or shift over time. A screeded layer of sand was then added on top to provide a perfectly level bed for the block pavers.
4. Block Paving & Finishing
The main body of the driveway was laid using ‘Autumn Mix’ block pavers in traditional herringbone pattern. A contrasting charcoal border was then laid around the perimeter to frame the driveway beautifully. To complete the job, kiln-dried sand was brushed into all the joints to lock the blocks tightly in place.
Final Outcome
This Bexleyheath project is a fantastic example of how a well-planned driveway can dramatically improve a property. The combination of the warm, multi-toned block paving, the new brick wall, and the essential drainage system has resulted in a driveway that is not only stunning to look at but also built to the highest standards of quality and durability.
