Block Paved & Gravel Driveway in Bexley
- Location: Bexley, Kent
- Project: Paved & Gravel Driveway
- Duration: 3 Days
This front garden transformation project was recently completed in Bexley, where we transformed an old, patchy driveway into a clean, functional, and beautiful area that greatly enhances the front of the property.
The front garden was in a bit of a state when we arrived, with old concrete, worn grass, and uneven ground. There was very little parking space and certainly wasn’t doing the property any favors from the street.
The brief for this project was simple: we were to make a clean and functional driveway with a path leading up to the front door.
Project Details
1. Groundworks & Preparation
Firstly, we broke out the existing concrete and dug down to the correct levels throughout the entire area.
Once we had done this, we put in a solid MOT Type 1 sub-base and then compacted it all down to make sure we had a good foundation. Edging kerbs were then put in place to shape everything out and keep it all locked in for the long term.
This stage is where a good driveway is made – get this stage right and you’re good for years!
2. Installing the Block Paved Pathway
We then created a smart block paved pathway that led up to the front door, using a charcoal block with a contrasting lighter edge to make it look quite nice.
It adds a little character without going overboard, and it ties in quite well with the step detail at the front door.
4. The Finished Result
The final result speaks for itself. What was a messy and unused space is now a fashionable and functional patio that blends in perfectly with the property.
Not only does the new layout allow for a seamless transition from house to garden, it provides plenty of space for furniture and general use of this space on a sunny day.
Before & After!
Final Outcome
This Bexley driveway project is a great example of how combining block paving with gravel can give you the best of both worlds – structure, style, and practicality without going over the top.
