Block Paved Pathway | Sidcup

This comprehensive project in Sidcup involved a complete front garden transformation. The old, tired concrete and paving was removed to make way for a stylish new block paved driveway and pathway, complemented by new brickwork and landscaping.

Project Details

1. Demolition & Excavation

The first step was to completely clear the site. The old concrete driveway, pathway, and existing wall were broken up and removed. The entire area was then excavated to the correct depth to provide a solid foundation for the new hardscaping.

2. New Wall & Step Construction

With a clean slate to work on, a new boundary wall was built using bricks that complemented the house. The wall was finished with stylish charcoal copings. A new step was also constructed, using Indian sandstone, to provide elegant access from the driveway to the garden area.

3. Sub-Base & Edging

A new MOT Type 1 hardcore sub-base was laid and thorough compacted to create a solid base. A double border, using charcoal and brindle block pavers, was then laid around the perimeter of the new driveway and path. This sharp, contrasting edge defines the different areas and adds a high-end, custom feel to the design.

4. Block Paving & Landscaping

The main driveway and path were laid with ‘Autumn Mix’ block pavers in a classic herringbone pattern. To complete the transformation, a new garden area was created and covered with bark chipping for a neat, low maintenance finish. Finally, kiln-dried sand was brushed into the joints of the block paving to lock everything securely in place.
